Put In

The put in for the Lowell-Oglesby run is right below the Lowell bridge on I178. It is the first turn in, North of the I178 Bridge. There is a sign marked "Vermillion River Rafting" which marks the spot.

On days when the water is good, and the weather decent, paddlers start gathering on Saturdays and Sundays around 9-10 a.m. It's generally very easy to arrange a shuttle.

When at the put-in, if you look upstream to the I178 Bridge, the far left bridge pylon in the water has the river gauge. When people refer to the Vermillion water level, that is probably the gauge they are refering to.
