Take Out
After a mile or so of flatwater you will come to the Route 23 bridge. This is the take out. A horrendous climb awaits you on river right, just in front of the bridge. The takeout is in better shape now that it is being kept up by what is left of the Central Illinois Whitewater Club. Every year in May a Vermillion River Clean Up is scheduled. Rick "Killer" Killian is the primary organizer of the event.There have recently been some issues with the takeout. In the fall of 2001 the County was trying to shut down parking at the take out for the fear of liability.
So, please be curteous of the locals, try to keep nudity to a minimum, etc...w
