S-Turn Rapid

About a quarter of a mile down from Entrance, the river makes an S-turn, hence the name of the rapid here. Basically, you get a quick bend to the right, followed by a quick bend to the left. At higher levels 7+ feet on Lowell Gauge, there is a great surfing wave here. At lower levels there are small waves to play on, and below 4 feet (1200 cfs) it is just rock.
